Zulaikha + Anwar

One of my favorite projects to work on are weddings. Lately, Jason & I have been able to work with several Somali couples. Two weeks ago we photographed and made a video for Zulaikha + Anwar. They had their main venue at the Ramada Hotel in Portland, Oregon. The decoration was so elegant. We loved it!

Somalian Weddings are not like your regular expected weddings. First of all they have an all women’s night. Usually there are not men there. Here is when the celebrate the bride to be. It is usually the night before the big wedding party. Their celebrations are during the night from 9pm-2am. They are full of dancing and joy.

The second night is when they celebrate the marriage. The bride has several outfit changes and for half of the reception it is just the women. On her last outfit change the groom comes to the reception with her and so do the the rest of the men invited. They are full of culture, dances, and love. We love working with the Somali people. They are beautiful!!

Consumers are interacting more with video than ever before

Video is one of the easiest ways for consumers to learn about a product or service and understand how the product or service can benefit them. In the matter of 15-30 seconds you can advertise what usually would take a page or more of text to explain.  Not only this, consumers tend to see video as a trusted source of information so not only does video convey messages easier to the consumer, but when they see the video, they are more likely to trust it.

Bakers Royale & Real Food by Dad Behind The Scenes

About two weeks ago, Francisca and I met seriously one of the coolest families who run two amazing food blogs, Real Food by Dad & Bakers Royale.  They came to the Oregon Coast and stayed in an amazing Airbnb, unfortunately they came on the last winter storm in Portland and had to go over the coastal range in the snow!  I’m sure this is exactly what they were looking for in a trip to the beach 😉  Even with the bad weather, they had the best attitude and were so laid back and easy to work with!

We just purchased the Nikon Key Mission 360 which we are honestly in awe about.  Unless you have the budget and time to run the 6 plus GoPros 360 rigs, this is in our opinion the best rig out there!  See our quick behind the scenes video below and make sure to look around at the end to catch Francisca’s amazing dance move!

Why organizations that support children?  Francisca and I got married 7 year ago at a young age. USA Touch Rugby 2016

Back in October, Francisca and I had the amazing opportunity given to us to go and film for USA Touch Rugby Nationals at ESPN in Disney World.  Last year I went by myself to film and put a highlight video together and because of the great response that video received, both Francisca and I were able to go and film footage for multiple videos we are putting together for them.  In total we are putting multiple highlight videos together as well as interviews with players and the head coach for USA Women’s Rugby Team who just got back from the Olympics a few months prior.

On top of filming for USA Touch Nationals, we were able to experience just a little of what Disney World has to offer.  You can find that blog post here.  On this project we worked along side the great photographer Joshua Keliiheleua.  Some of his images are shown below.

Sarah & Ryan

Not only are Sarah and Ryan a beautiful couple, the receptions was so fun held down in Portland, OR at the Left Bank Annex.  So much to film at this location, it was impossible it capture it all in just a 4 minute highlight.  This upcoming year is looking like it is going to be an amazing year for us at Define Motion.  We have a lot of fun projects coming up as well as some awesome opportunities that we can’t wait to share with you all!
