Family Four Wheeling Trip

Since I can remember, a lot of our summer weekends were spent down in Florence, Oregon camping at Honeyman State Park and four wheeling at the dunes. Some of our best memories come from these trips, hanging out by the fire, riding until the evening and Costco muffins (Some how camping makes Costco muffins even better!).

Since graduating high school, with college, marriage and kids, it seemed as though the four wheeling days were over.  The four wheelers were gathering dust and our parents were talking about selling them.  Thankfully,  my ambitious brother in law, Andrew, wasn’t down with that plan, he got all the bikes in working order at the beginning of the summer and got us all excited about going back to the dunes before school started again.  We only had time to go to the dunes once this last summer, but hopefully that will change in summers to come.

Back in the day, it was always about how far could we jump and how stupid could we get.  It wasn’t uncommon to barrel up 50 ft dunes to launch to ridiculous lengths.  Except for Dan, our mind set has changed a little this year.  So basically you can thank Dan for most of the jumping shots in the video.

It was so fun to see our children’s eyes light up as they heard the loud thunderous roar of the four wheelers starting up and as we drove the kids through the dunes.  Even when the bikes weren’t in use, the kids would sit on them making “BRRRRM” sounds out of their mouths pretending to race of the hill.

While Zaden was one of the first to get to the bikes and always wanted to go on rides, he seemed to have a problem actually staying awake until the ride was over!  The first time he fell asleep was when we took the kids to the beach.  I could understand the reason why this time, because we were going slower due to smaller kids.  However, the second time he fell asleep, I was riding pretty aggressively through trails trying to show him a good time.  But sure enough, when I pulled back to our spot, his head was down to the left laying in my arm.

We love that the four wheelers are working again and are excited to pass on these memories to our kids that we cherish so much from our childhood!
